I thought I would share a few photos from our trips to Yosemite National Park. It really is one of my favorite places to visit. I used to live in Central California about two hours from Yosemite National Park. It was an easy drive to head over to the park for some hiking and much needed personal refueling. My wife Cat and I would also do some camping just outside of the park in a little town called Oakhurst. Oakhurst is where you can find Bass Lake. This lake was the backdrop for the movie “The Great Outdoors” with John Candy.
Over the years we have seen lots of deer and a bear in the park besides all the normal small animals running around. The rangers a pretty amazing and do a great job keeping everyone safe (especially when a bear wanders into populated areas on the valley floor). There’s a little 9-hole golf course near Wawona and the giant sequoia trees. It’s fairly common to see deer wandering around on the course. It’s also common to see people trying to feed the deer but that’s not a great idea.
Close to Wawona is Mariposa Grove. This is where the giant sequoia are found. There are some great hiking trails there, which allow you to walk around and see all these amazing trees.
There are places all over the world, which are filled with wonder and awe. For me Yosemite is one of those places. Many of the trees are thousands of years old, the landscape is amazing, the people are nice, and the serenity for me is always welcomed. We’ve posted several pictures of the park in the Travels section of our website Click Here to view those pictures.
